Who We Are:
The Partnership of Oran is a geographically dispersed and diverse community united by our common understandings, dedications, and practices. The Companions of Oran was born together with Columcille as the children of Bill Cohea and Fred Lindkvist to provide safe spaces for tired sinners and reluctant saints to catch their breath, ground, and center through a deep relationship with themselves, each other, the Sacred Earth, and a life of passionate vocation. As siblings, Columcille and the Companions of Oran are separate, but connected; while we strive to maintain at least one member as an associate to the board of Columcille, contribute financially to Columcille, and hold our retreats there, the Companions of Oran is an independent organization.
Our Membership:
The original membership of the Companions, then called “the Order,” consisted of men of all orientations and vocations who came together to create a space where they could be authentically themselves, and find support for the work each member was doing in the world. Since then, the Companions has opened to people of all genders and religious orientations as well, though in its first year, as a trial run, its membership will be kept small, as a more formal vetting / gatekeeping process is created. We are committed to building a community of diverse people committed to making a real difference in the world through service, who recognize the deep need in their own lives for a community of mutual support.
What We Offer:
We offer support, accountability, safety, and the opportunity for deep authenticity through companionship with each other. We cultivate Grounding, Centering, and Alignment through our relationship with the Sacred Earth. We cultivate Structure, Balance, and Wholeness by supporting each member in their own rule of life. Finally, we deepen in Curiosity, Surrender, and Serenity through relationship with the Mystery.
Our Structure:
Currently, we have an Abbot who serves the Companions by organizing, administrating, and facilitating the other members of the Companions in creating our core documents, website, social media and gatherings, and who serves as an associate to the board of Columcille. More formal structures of leadership and process are in the process of being created.
